Our Story

During the Covid pandemic we spent way too much time at home meddling with DIY projects to kill time and make our homes more enjoyable.

One of the first projects we embarked on was building a floor to ceiling shiplap fireplace. We were inspired by a DIY video we had come across on social media and thought we would give it a try. 

They made it look incredibly easy in their video, so we decided to follow their instructions and see just how easy their method was to build. After ordering and receiving all the materials needed to start the build we got to work. We quickly learned that the build was much more complicated and time consuming than they made it seem online.

It took us two full weekends working 8 hour days to build and paint it! 

Most importantly, this was advertised as a simple DIY project that anyone could do but I suspect this would be nearly impossible for someone without the right tools and significant carpentry experience. It ended up looking great, but it was way more work than advertised. We recognized a need for a fireplace solution that could seamlessly blend functionality, aesthetics, and simplicity.

That's when the idea for our shiplap fireplace DIY kit was born.
